In the infamous words of Bugs Bunny…Th-th-that’s all folks! Yes, unfortunately, its time to say farewell to Dewey’s Reverse Read-A-Thon (but never fear, it will be back for its normal scheduled appearance in October). This was a fun read-a-thon for me because I mostly played it by ear – I didn’t have a huge list of books to pick from (although I did have an epic list of books that were in progress). I didn’t care that at 1:30am, I fell asleep for about 8hrs or that I also took another nap around 11. It was nice being so chill and just reading. Huge shout out to all the various through the hours that kept us entertained on Twitter, Facebook, Goodreads, Litsy and other social media platforms that I’m sure i’m forgetting.

And on to my stats for this read-a-thon…

How about you – did you participate? How did you do?
Its Thursday evening, which means that its not only Friday eve, but that its officially less than 48 hours until the October edition of Dewey’s 24 Read-a-thon. Unfortunately, this is the first time in a couple of years that I won’t be fully participating as a reader. But I swear I have a good reason – Sunday is my last race of the season – the Marine Corps Marathon, so it seems like a potentially bad idea to stay up all night reading and then trying to run 26.2 miles…don’t get me wrong – I would try it if I legitimately thought I could, but not likely. That doesn’t mean that I’m not going to read at all – it will be a good excuse (like I ever actually need one) to sit around with my feet up, resting and relaxing.
Books In Progress:
Hours 21-24 Update
I read one of Dr Hashimi’s books a few months ago (she is a pediatrician that works in DC), and so when I was looking at the list of authors who would be attending the National Book Festival in DC and saw her name on the list – I thought it was a good opportunity to read another of hers. Set in Afghanistan, A House Without Windows is a book with the main thrust of the story is the criminal case surrounding an Afghani woman accused of killing her husband and the Afghani born, US trained lawyer who is hired to defend her. Before the beginning of the readathon, I’d read about 100 pages of it, so I was hoping to be able to finish it – but realized quickly that it wasn’t going to be a book that I could easily binge read – it was one that was better read in segments throughout the day (in fact, I just had just finished reading a part of it when I took my unanticipated nap this afternoon). I’ll be posting a review later on, but I can safely say, this was a 4 star read for me and one of my favorite of the read-a-thon.
The Final Stretch:
