Review: Succubus Shadows

Succubus Shadows (Georgina Kincaid, #5)Succubus Shadows by Richelle Mead
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have to admit, sometimes there are advantages to coming late to a series…case in point, I only have to wait 6 weeks to find out what happens to Georgina, rather than the year that lots of people have had to (sorry guys, I don’t know how the heck you’ve done it). Admittedly, this ending was not as bad as the book 4 to book 5 in Fever series (and I only had to wait 3 painful days for that one) or the pending book 4 to book 5 in Chicagoland Vampires (November can’t come soon enough) – but this one still has me thinking…

anyways, onto the review…at the end of book 4 I was so mad at both Seth and Georgina (AGAIN!) because of what had happened, I was unsure if I would continue the series (although, I don’t know why I keep saying that because I know I will…lol) – but book 5 opens following Seth’s engagement to Maddie, Georgina’s best friend (ouch!). For me the most interesting part of this book was seeing Georgina’s past. Throughout the series, we have heard what she did when she became a succubus, but for the most part, we have only seen brief glimpses of her past. In Shadows, we were able to see more and it helps me to understand more about her and why she has done some of the stuff that she has done. It also makes me curious to see how it is all going to resolve itself in the last book. I have my theories, but don’t want to discuss them without risking spoilers (although I might post a spoiler review of the book on my blog, but i’ll let you know)

another 4 star, nearly 5 star read for me – i’d probably called it 4.5, and Richelle Mead is going firmly into the authors I want to read more from in the future list.
