Review:
I had the pleasure of meeting Hope Ramsey at an author/reader luncheon that I attended last year in Washington DC and I was reminded of a firecracker – she didn’t seem to stop moving during the time we were there. I didn’t realize until I got home that evening that I actually had one of her books sitting unread in my NetGalley account. so I decided to take the plunge and jumped into her series, even if it was #7 in an ongoing on (something I don’t normally do, but I didn’t really have the time to go back at read the previous 6 books).

I will admit that at first I was a bit lost as to how Jenny fit into the overall Last Chance storyline, but it seemed like she was the hometown girl and it was time for her to get her HEA. Whereas, Gabriel was the outcast – he had previously lived in the house that Jenny now owns and is restoring into a Bed and Breakfast until a tragedy struck his family. I’ll admit that I wasn’t expecting the paranormal aspect especially since I was expecting a straight contemporary romance (and where, as far as I could see, none of the previous books in the series had similar aspects).

I liked how Ms Ramsey developed the relationship between Jenny and Gabriel, although I thought he was a bit of a jackass early in the book. It was interesting seeing him find peace and resolution with his past. The mystery aspect was ok, and I liked how the author wrote the ghost to be a bit mischievous, a bit like a modern day Casper. I do feel as though I might have appreciated this entry in the series more if I had read the rest of the series, but at the same time, based on reading Inn at Last Chance, I don’t know if I will or not. Ultimately, I gave Inn at Last Chance 3 stars, but on the very low end.

Review:
I was taking a break from all the romance I was reading. I purchased this book for free from amazon after reading a few reviews on there.
I liked the writers style. I found myself in the middle point of the book thinking it was almost over. I thought I had gotten to the twist of the book but I was wrong. This book not only a chic lit but it holds some mystery as well.

Chloe is a girl after my own heart I loved her. She is the girl that could be everyone’s best friend. She is strong smart and funny. However when it comes to men she has a complicated past in more ways than one. She holds so many secrets up until the end that you have to keep reading to see if she gets her happy ever after or not.

Chloe has a group of friends that do play a big part in her world some of them less significant than others. I found myself not to fond really of any of them they were there for her but it just seemed that they were only there some of the time. Part of that was Chloe and her will to do it on her own and not burden anyone. She is wanting to work in forensics and she works hard as it is. Not taking hand outs and just trying to prove she is not her mother in any way.

Matt who is one of her friends I found myself drawn to him and hoping he was the guy he presented himself to be. He is this cowboy who walks around with a purity ring on. You know that something interesting has got to be going on there. Is he a down home gentle man or is he just pretending.

Chloe’s mom was my least favorite she was just to much about herself to even see her daughter for who she was. Right to the end after everything I still wasn’t convinced that she wasn’t there for herself and not her daughter.

Josh when your introduced to him, he is walking on to the set of his next big movie. Next to Chloe was a guy who fast became my friend. However when I read him I imagined James Vanderbeek. I don’t know why. He treats Chloe with respect and treats her like a person just a she treats him. The friendship that they have is something that I have had myself just not with a movie star. I wanted him to end up with Chloe I wanted to know why she didn’t have feelings for him. He is doing all the right things and made her break out of her shell a little at a time. I just waited for something in his past to pop up and ruin this for them.

The story that comes out is shocking and sad. It has just the right amount of twists and turns and some great epic kissing scenes. You find yourself telling Chloe to open up her eyes and look at what is going on in front of her.

I want to share just a few quotes with you from the book that I thought were good.

I hope you pick up Someone Else’s Fairytale. I give it a 3 out of 5 Stars. I liked it but it just felt like it was missing something in the end.

Review – One for the Money – Janet Evanovich

I have lost count of the number of times in the past few years that I have had the Stephanie Plum series recommended to me. It seems like almost on a monthly/bi-monthly basis someone mentions it and how it is a funny read, or lite comedy etc. Previous to listening to One for the Money, I had read another of Ms Evanovich’s books (Metro Girl), and wasn’t really all that impressed, but I decided to listen to the advice of some friends and try One for the Money since it is supposedly better…Honestly, if I hadn’t just seen the movie the weekend prior, I probably would have given up on the book. Having seen the movie and roughly knowing the timeline that occurs, I could figure out how much I still had to listen to in the book and so when I had only an hour left and was considering giving up on it, I decided to persevere. Don’t get me wrong, I had no problems with the narration of the audiobook and that was probably the only saving grace for me, if I had been reading it, I likely would have given up on it. Stephanie didn’t really impress me as a character, in fact, I found her to be rather dumb and while I like Grandma Mazur, she wasn’t enough to be a saving grace for the book.

That being said, I did like Critt’s narration – I felt like she did a good job with the various New Jersey accents, and I could tell which character was talking when and where – which I was thankful for. I’ll definately be on the lookout for more books narrated by her in the future – although, I doubt that I will be visiting Stephanie Plum again anytime soon. Originally, I gave the book 3 stars, but looking back at it, it is more of a 2-star read for me, but the narration did boost it to 3 stars.
